Tuesday, October 4, 2005

The meeting was called to order at 7:20pm.

Present were Board Members Cathy Doser, Mike Grueter, Karen Lindner, Caryn Roberts, and Allan Swensson, and members Dick Harrell, Dona McAdam, Wil Nelson and Nancy Siburg.

  1. Approval of September Minutes was postponed as they were not available for review in time.
  2. Treasurer's Report - Karen Lindner reported that we have $2,726.63 in our checking account and $2,324.90 in our savings account, for a total of $5,051.53.
  3. Old Business
    1. Resource Center Upgrades - Capital Improvement Project - Karen reported that as of 9/30/05 $3,500.00 was raised. Caryn suggested we continue the Capital Improvement Project to provide an ongoing opportunity for contributions.
    2. ExChange Update Project: Karen reported for Curtis - he is in the process of writing a program to use LDAP checking for actual members to eliminate spam to random, slightly similar addresses.
    3. Fundraising: Classes - Karen reported that the Mac Basics class she and Wil did was a success. Those present wanted to keep going. Two people joined. Another class is scheduled on Saturday 10/29 at 1:30-4:30 PM after the Cafe. Wil and Karen feel that classes can increase membership.
    4. The Website has been updated regularly with new content.
    5. Dick Harrell reported the next issue of MacNews should be out November 1st.
    6. There has been no progress on the recovery of the dbug.com domain name. Cathy knows who we need to contact to pursue this, and will pass that on to Mike to do.
    7. Membership Chairman Bruce Robertson reported as of 10/2: 199 regular and 6 family members.
  4. New Business
    1. Upcoming Elections: Election Committee Karen, Wil, and Nancy. Four candidates nominated so far. A separate mailing will go out with the candidates' statements and ballot to be returned by November 15th. Karen, Caryn and Cathy are not running for Board of Directors in 2006. Karen will provide a list of paid members as of 11/15/05. Cathy is willing to continue to be the Main Meeting Coordinator. Unanimous approval of this plan was expressed.
    2. The Final Cut Pro Class will be October 22-23 and the Saturday Cafe will be canceled that day.
    3. Clark Schroeder will hold an iDVD Class on October 28th, and his new Music SIG on will start on October 18th.
    4. Genealogy SIG is planned to start on October 25th and continue on the fourth Tuesday of each month. Ben Werner will likely be the SIG Leader.
    5. Upcoming Monthly Events
      1. November - MS Office
      2. December will be a holiday party. A discussion was held of a location being accessible or gathering being on a weekend with no resolution. A suitable location will be researched.
