Board of Directors Meeting Minutes

Monday, April 12, 2004

The meeting, held at the Carter/Gaskill home, was called to order at 7:22 pm.

Present were Board Members Allan Swensson, Karen Lindner, Dick Carter, Jim DaMico as well as members Curtis Snow, Julie Gaskill and Nancy Siburg.

  1. The March minutes were approved unanimously.
  2. Treasurer's Report - Karen reported that at the end of March the balance was $5,562.50 (Checking $2,430.12; Savings $3,106.91; CD $25.47).
  3. Old Business
    1. Portage Bay Contract - Nothing new to report.
    2. ExChange Update Project
      1. Spam filter machine - Allan will contact Mike Grueter about progress, stressing the need to get this in place asap. Curtis and Allan will collaborate on a communication to First Class for options with dollars attached.
      2. Because dBug needs funds to update the dBug ExChange server hardware and software to present day standards, the Board seeks to raise funds totaling an average of $50.00 per member.
      3. New Software - Curtis suggested a structured letter to obtain a good cost estimate for the FirstClass upgrade.
      4. Fundraising - No current plan. Joyce Schowalter will be contacted.
    3. Website - Paul Montgomery, who has been keeping the website current, asked to connect to the PHP dBug alternative he has developed through the Eastside Computer Club.
    4. Projector platform - Dick will contact Javier
    5. Newsletter
      1. Advertising Online and Print were discussed. Jim will contact members who have sold advertising for dBug in the past for suggestions. Text-only ads would be solicited for Online.
      2. David Corey has offered to put the newsletter into camera-ready shape.
      3. Dona McAdam has offered to help out with graphics for the newsletter.
    6. The InfoLine is being handled by Fred Wright and Pam Marbett.
  4. New Business
    1. Upcoming Monthly Events
      1. May 12 - 6:30 pm Meeting at Microsoft - with food confirmed by Karen.
      2. June 12 - Saturday, 9 am - 4 pm Swap Meet at Phinney Ridge
      3. July 14 - 6:30 pm Apple meeting at the RC with Aaron Lund, Apple Rep at CompUSA, South Center.
      4. August 11 - 6 pm dBug Annual Picnic at Meridian Park.
    2. Membership - Bruce Robertson is contacting lapsed members. It was suggested postcards be used with $150.00 allocated for this effort.
